The idea behind this project was to explore the notion of creating 'More with Less'. Using an everyday low value material and transforming it to create a product that will have a high perceived value. I decided to use cardboard and by laminating and rolling it, my intention was to give the material a new visual language.
As cardboard is one of the most recycled materials around, I wanted to find a new way of giving it a second life.

My process of manipulating the cardboard very much dictated the shape of the final design. Shaving down the edges of the cardboard rolls revealed the pattern of the corrugated layers, which reminded me of African patterns seen on low stools or poufs. These cardboard stools are seen as a more sustainable alternative to poufs which are usually made out of leather and fabric.
